FINAL PROJECT -a[live] capsule

For the final project, we were asked to design a container cafe that's located in Sekeping Serendah. We had to consider the space of the container given and produce effective solutions to meet up with the ergonomic conditions. We were given two containers of different sizes,

container 1: 12000mm x 24000mm x 2850

container 2: 6000mm x 24000mm x 2850

and come up with a unique, but logical way of how the containers integrate to become one.

IDEA DEVELOPMENT

Personally, I've faced numerous problems from the start of this project till the end. My ideas were all over the place. I couldn't get the right arrangement of containers, even until we went for the site visit. Because I didn't have a confirmed container arrangement, I did not have a proper space programming for the interior of the cafe. My designs keep changing and it did not get better even after changing it.

Until our seniors came to show us their works,  Ms Diana gave me the idea to get inspired by one of the senior's work. (THANK YOU SENIORS!)

This was the first idea for my cafe. This was very plain and basic. At the time, the integration of the cafe was not as clear to me. I didn't understood what it meant, so I didn't apply it into my design. That was why the second container is just placed on top, instead of it being integrated into the first container.

The second mock-up's idea of arrangement came from the layout plan of the first mock-up, seen in a sectional view. Even then, I was still not satisfied with this whole idea, it wasn't one that I could work with. So i had to move on with coming up with new ideas.

IDEA PROPOSAL 1

This was more of a solid idea that I could work with, where the first container is slanted but the end of the container is placed on the ground, and the shorter container is arranged at a standing 90 degree vertical to acquire more space.

This was the main key inspiration for my cafe. Ms. Diana told me to spread my idea from this. And this was the day that I finally got a solid idea of how I wanted the cafe to be.

This time, I worked backwards, I started with the interior of the cafe, then moved on to the exterior. This mock-up was the first idea that came to my mind after the day we saw our senior's work. I had more confidence in finishing this project after doing this mock-up because everything seemed a little less cloudy than it was before.

Then, I had to do more changes to this mock-up, properly arranging the interior spaces, especially the eating area.

REFLECTIVE ESSAY

Honestly, this whole semester drowned me completely, especially this subject. I faced uncountable problems throughout this subject, from the start of project 1 until the last project. I doubted myself every time one project ends, and the next one comes in. I had to redo all the projects because the first outcome was not good enough. And for every chance that we got to redo, I was more than grateful to make the model better looking.

For the final project, the hardest part was to come up with the right arrangement, and interior space of the cafe. That took me a while to finally be done and start doing the model. Even then, I had trouble figuring out how to cover the walls and roof of the cafe. This whole process was so hard that I was super close to giving up and just show whatever I have, the (incomplete models) on the morning of every submission. (almost, but I with strong will I managed to finish it)

But I've never been so happy with my work outcomes until this semester. Looking back at the works I've produced, from bad to good, every single hard work was really worth it. What I can say is that I really pushed myself to be the best I can be. I didn't know I was capable of doing all of this.. at all.  And I couldn't thank the lecturers enough, especially Ms. Diana for guiding me throughout this whole semester. Even though I really felt like dying because of all the works we have to show for every tutorial, but it was because of her help, that I managed to do it too.

 THANK YOU, LECTURERS! <3
