PROJECT 1

LOCAL ANALYSIS

For the first project, the whole class was divided into 5 groups;-

GROUP 1 - PHYSICAL STUDIES

GROUP 2 - ART + CULTURE

GROUP 3 - BUILDING ANALYSIS + INTERIOR

GROUP 4 - SITE MEASUREMENTS + DRAWING

GROUP 5 - SPACE MODEL + SITE MODEL

and we had to do our local analysis a cafe called Jao Tim, located in Jalan Sultan, Kuala Lumpur.

Jao Tim was really aesthetically pleasing. I wouldn't have known this place if it wasn't for this assignment as it's not somewhere I would usually go. This area is really high on traffic, but I'd definitely come back again for the cakes because its so.good.

I was in group 4, so we had to measure almost all parts of the interior of the building. Which was actually hard! I kinda underestimated this task a little bit, I thought it would only take at least an hour 30 minutes (because we had 8 group members) but nope. It took us the whole time we were there. We didn't even get the chance to sit down, eat brunch and enjoy the cafe. But its fine because we came here for the sake of assignment anyway heheh. Then some of the measurements were inaccurate, sooo we had to come here again and measure the areas that we needed.

OUTCOME

The end result was to combine all the group's task and present it into these presentation boards together with the site model and space model. Personally I think that the whole class did a very good job, especially on the models. I was awed at how precise and neat everything was! Not to forget the boards, it all had useful information of Jao Tim and the surrounding area, and visually, pretty!
